The Fighting Saints competed in the Mississippi 8 Conference Championship meet on Wednesday, May 24. Overall, the girls team placed 5th out of 10 teams with 58 points, only 0.25 points behind 4th place; the boys team also placed 5th with 68 points, only 4.5 points behind 4th place. SFHS won 8 of the 36 events that day. The Fighting Saints will compete in the 7AA Section meet on Wednesday, May 31 and June 3rd.

Conference Champions:

Genuine Matthews placed 1st in the 100m dash, 200m dash, and 400m dash

Amanda Anderson placed 1st in the Discus Throw and Shot Put

Tommy Schwieger placed 1st in Long Jump and Triple Jump

Eli Hylen placed 1st in High Jump

All Conference Awards:

Taylor Karasch placed 4th in Long Jump
Abbie Rockstad placed 3rd in Pole Vault
Sara Zoccheddu placed 3rd in Triple Jump
Dylan Bigelbach placed 3rd in 300m Hurdles

All Conference Honorable Mention Awards:

Maria Laudenbach placed 7th in the 3200m run

Girls’ 4x200m Relay placed 3rd (Alexis Lusthoff, Justyne Schake, Emma Street, Taylor Karasch)

Girls’ 4x800m Relay placed 4th (Danielle Menge, Kylie Wolfe, Sydney Hauck, Maria Laudenbach)
