A Certified Athletic Trainer is a highly educated and skilled professional specializing in athletic health care.  In cooperation with physicians and other allied health personnel, the athletic trainer functions as an integral member of the athletic health care team in secondary schools, colleges and universities, sports medicine clinics, professional sports programs and other athletic health care settings.
St. Francis High School contracts a certified athletic trainer (ATC) to provide medical support/coverage for the Fighting Saints athletic teams.  During the season, an athletic trainer is on site from at least 2:30-5:30 p.m. Monday-Friday and during all home JV and varsity athletic games/events.  An athletic trainer also travels with the varsity football team to away games.
Dustin Eslinger, M.A., ATC, ITAT has worked as the athletic trainer at St. Francis High School since 2005.  Krista Flanagan, ATC joined the athletic training staff at SFHS in 2017.  Dustin and Krista are employed by St. Francis Physical Therapy.  Please feel free to contact them with any questions or concerns that you (parent or student-athlete) may have regarding any injury and health question or concern that may arise during the year.
Dustin and Krista work closely with Dr. Budd Renier, MD and Dr. Mike Patten, MD of Cambridge Medical Center.  Dr. Renier and Dr. Patten specialize in the evaluation and management of orthopedic injuries and conditions.  Cambridge Medical Center’s Non-Surgical Orthopedics and Sports Medicine Clinic (Clinic B) will usually have same day or next day appointments available for St. Francis High School athletes.  Please contact Dustin to take advantage of these timely and convenient appointment scheduling opportunities.
