Coed Junior Varsity Cross Country, Coed Varsity Cross Country · Saints Cross Country Update


Over the past couple of weeks the Saints Cross Country team has competed in the Saints Invite (September 12th), the Big Lake Invite (September 16th), the Milaca Mega Meet (September 20th) and the Buffalo Invite (September 25th).  The teams are gearing up for a couple more weeks of Invitationals before competing in the Mississippi 8 Conference meet and the Section 7AA Meet.

The annual Saints invitational was held at the Pond’s Golf Course.  Grant Sparstad was the top Saints finisher in the varsity race with a 24th place finish and Emily Daniels led the girls with her 37th place finish.  Neither varsity team had a team score at this meet. In the junior varsity races, Alex Johnson finished in 20th place to lead the boys and Sarah Willner led the girls with a 38th place finish.  The junior varsity boys team placed 9th while the girls did not have a team score. The top finishers in the middle school races were Kyle Enfield in 37th place for the boys and Gracie Eastman 40th place for the girls.  The girls middle school team placed 7th overall while the boys did not have a team score.

Emily Daniels and Madison Berwald were the top finishers for the Saints in the girls varsity race at Big Lake.  They finished 29th and 30th respectively.  The boys did not have any competitors in the varsity race.  The Saints were led by Alex Johnson in the boys junior varsity race, he finished in 25th place. Bendicte Foget was the top Saints finisher in the girls junior varsity race as she placed second overall.  Bendicte is an exchange student from Denmark and this was her first competition of the season.  Kyle Enfield once again led the Saints in the boys middle school race.  He placed 33rd overall with teammate Blake Jenson finishing right behind him in 34th.  Sydney Hauck led the Saints in the girls middle school race with a 35th place finish.

At the Milaca Mega Meet, the largest high school cross country meet in the nation, the Saints competed against a variety of teams from around Minnesota, Wisconsin, and North Dakota.  In all, over 6,000 runners competed throughout the day at Stones Throw Golf Course.  All results from this meet can be found at the following site: http://www.raceberryjam.com/indexcc.html

This week the teams headed to Buffalo to compete against some outstanding competition and on the course that will host the Mississippi 8 Conference Meet in a couple weeks.  Grant Sparstad earned a medal with his 14th place finish in the boys varsity race.  Emily Daniels was the top finisher in the girls varsity race with her 46th place finish.  The girls varsity team placed 12th while the boys did not have a team score.  The top Saints finishers in the junior varsity races were Andrew Miller and Kiersten Strate.  The Saints were led by Sydney Hauck’s 7th place finish and Kyle Enfield in the middle school races.

The Saints Cross Country team will return to action next Thursday (October 2nd) at the Blaine Invitational which will be held at Majestic Oaks.
