Mound Westonka High School
Forecast For a Strong North Wind
A fierce north wind came down over the Twin Cities this past weekend. The weather pattern originated in Section 7AAA and may have residents worried about this being a long winter of beatings from the north.
The first weekend of the 2014-15 high school wrestling season is under our belts and the most noticeable result is that Section 7AAA did pretty well. St. Francis won the Turkey Burn in Mound-Westonka with Anoka finishing second. Elk River was undefeated at the Cambridge Duals and Coon Rapids won two duals in Hastings including one over defending state runner-ups Prior Lake.
Tenth ranked St. Francis made the strongest statement knocking off fifth ranked Anoka at The Turkey Burn. The Saints had eight finalists and also placed higher than Anoka at eight weights. A mock dual meet between the two based on tournament results gives a slight edge to St. Francis.
