Game Recap

SAINTS TAME THE PONIES

The St. Francis Boys Basketball team traveled across the metro to take on the Stillwater Ponies. The Saints entered the contest 1-0 after defeating Anoka earlier in the week. St. Francis was slow out of the gate, but found their stride midway through the first half despite struggling to score from outside the paint. For the game, the Saints shot a respectable 44% overall, but were 0-14 from the 3-point line and were only 11-20 (55%) from the free throw line. Despite the poor shooting effort the Saints played tough defense and out-rebounded Stillwater 43 to 29 and held them to 29% shooting. Dominating the paint was the difference in the game. The Saints were led by their post players who all posted impressive stat-lines. Senior forward Ryan Svihel led all scorers with 16-points while also grabbing 14-rebounds, dishing out 6-assists. Freshman forward Wyatt Schroeder also contributed with 12-points and 9-rebounds, just missing a double-double. Senior post-man Blake Huebner also reached double digits in scoring, pouring in 14-points. The Saints next game is versus Spring Lake Park on Saturday 12/10 at Anoka-Ramsey Comminity College at 4pm.
