Girls Junior Varsity Gymnastics, Girls Varsity Gymnastics · Saints Varsity Gymnastics Take 2nd Place to North Branch at Senior Night to Wrap-up a Strong Season

Tuesday night was the last regular conference meet of the season and also senior night for the Fighting Saints gymnastics team as they took on the North Branch Vikings.  Despite solid performances by the lady Saints and the second highest team score for the Saints this season, they just could not pull off the win.  The final score was 138.25 for the Saints vs. 140.2 for the Vikings.  The Saints can be proud, they finished the season strong in 3rd place in conference (5-4) – their highest place since St. Francis joined the Mississippi 8 conference in 2013.
In Varsity All-Around, Felicia Bartell took 2nd place followed by Allie Frank in 3rd and Summer Helland in 5th.  In individual results, Felicia Bartell took 1st on Bars and 2nd on Vault.  Allie Frank took 2nd on Beam and 4th on Floor.  Summer Helland placed 3rd on Floor and 5th on Vault.  Sydney Stokes took 4th on Vault and 5th on Bars and Floor.  And Maleia St. Hilaire placed 4th on Beam.
The JV team also came in strong and pulled off the win against North Branch.  The final JV team score was 117.35 for the Saints vs. 109.35 for the Vikings.  Carolyn Helland took 1st place All-Around followed by Anna Stilwell in 4th and Riley Lawin in 5th.  In individual results, Maleia St. Hilaire took 1st on Bars, 2nd on Vault, and 3rd on Floor.  Sydney Stokes took 1st on Beam.  Jessi Mehregan was 2nd on Beam.  Morgan Goebel placed 2nd on Bars and 5th on Vault.  Carolyn Helland took 3rd on Vault and Beam and 4th on Bars.  And Riley Lawin placed 4th on Vault.
In Combo Varsity/JV All-Around, Sydney Stokes took 1st place, Jessi Mehregan and Maleia St. Hilaire tied for 2nd place, and Morgan Goebel took 3rd.
It was also senior night for the “Perfect10” and there were three seniors on the team this year that were recognized: Anna Stilwell, Sydney Stokes and team captain Morgan Goebel.   When you have a team this small, everyone counts and these girls provided so much encouragement and support to the younger gymnasts on the team and will be missed.  In appreciation, their fellow teammates made up posters and blankets to remember them by.  We wish our seniors much luck and success on their future endeavors.
The season is not over for the Saints.  They still have JV Conference this Friday, February 10, at 6pm at Princeton High School.  And then they move on to Varsity Sections Saturday, February 18th.  Good luck to all the gymnasts competing at JV Conference and Sections.

Go Saints!
