Despite wowing the crowd with their best holiday attire, the Saints fell to the STMA Knights in a very close non-conference holiday meet with a final team score of 132.9 (Saints) to 133.6 (Knights). A difference of merely 0.7 points! Saints junior Allie Frank took second all-around with a score of 34.55. Senior Summer Helland was in 4th with a 34.175. And Lauryn Perry took 5th with a 33.425.
The highlight of the night for the Saints was Allie Frank’s beam routine where she landed a 9.6, easily handing her the first place spot. Allie also got 2nd on vault and 3rd on floor. Meanwhile Summer Helland had a solid performance taking 2nd on beam and bars and 3rd on vault. Freshman Lauryn Perry took 4th on bars and 5th on floor and beam. And, Riley Lawin took 5th on vault.
Turning to JV action, the JV team had a decent night, bringing in a team score of 115.75 but it just wasn’t enough to beat the JV Knights who claimed first place with a score of 125.15. Savanna Lanz took 2nd place all-around with a 28.3 followed by Kayla Reid in 3rd with a 28.1 and Quinn Reid in 4th with a 27.4. Kayla took 2nd on vault. Emma Oman took 2nd on floor and 5th on vault. And Savanna took 4th on vault.
In combo all-around (those competing both JV and Varsity) Emma Oman took 3rd with a score of 30.325. Lia Mehregan took 4th with a 30.2. And Riley Lawin took 5th with a 28.675.
After the meet, both teams donned their holiday attire, enjoyed some fresh baked treats and smiled for the camera. Much fun and laughter was had by both teams in this first annual non-conference meet.
The Saints have a break until after the holidays. Their next meet will be HOME at the St Francis Middle School where they will host the North Branch Vikings on Thursday January 9th, 2020 at 6 pm. Don’t miss it!
